Personally the issue of not being able to update major versions of windows make these machines not fit for purpose.Yes they can be upgraded if you're competent, but this will mean a backup of user data and a complete reinstall of the OS cleanly.Sad to say it but it seems they're not fit for purpose unless you're willing to pay a technician to upgrade the OS every time there is a major update. This is something we're coming across in our store more and more. (Not just with HP either).Generally speaking due to the SSD style chip being onboard there is no hardware upgrade option available either.Steve. Not as far as I am aware, and likely wouldn't be cost effective.Interestingly HP remove links to anyone who could help you with your machine ( I usually have my website as my signature but a mod removed it?)This being the case I would advise you firstly ask HP and if after 7 days they have not assisted you return it to point of sale as 'not fit for purpose'.I've 3 of them sitting in front of me now which I was going to upgrade, but I'll inform the customers of HP's attitude and advise them to return their Christmas presents.Steve. If we're ever in a postition to have one of these left with we'll look over the board more closely and see if the surface mount chip can be replaced and give it a go.

An unexpected error (0x65b) has occured. Function failed during execution.I cleaned up disc space following the steps listed, and am still receiving the same error message of not have enough disc space to install the update.I bought an HP computer this time, because of what I had heard from other HP owners about the quality product, but so far, I'm not impressed with it. And considering that I only bought this 2 months ago, I am LESS than a happy customer. Please advise as to what I may be doing wrong, so that I can properly update my system. I'm not an analyst, and do not know code other than simple commands. Wrote:I have followed the steps to free up disc space on my HP Stream.

Dell, Lenovo, Acer, etc all sell these laptops with just the 32 GB eMMC hard drive. They try to drive down the price point, but this is the mess that happens.

Microsoft is complicit in this.
